Kawant: For many young people, the journey towards a career begins with a simple question: “What do I want to become?” Helping students find meaningful answers to this question, Disha Don Bosco Kawant organised a skill-based training and goal-setting programme for 396 students from nine high schools across Kawant block during July and August 2026. The initiative brought together 177 boys and 219 girls from Standards 9 to 11 and encouraged them to discover their strengths, dream with confidence and take purposeful steps towards their future.

The programme, titled “Introduction to the Annual Programme of Skill-Based Training and Goal Setting – Part 1”, was organised by Disha Don Bosco Kawant, managed by the Kawant Education Society. It was designed to provide students in the remote and tribal areas of the block with essential foundations for personal growth, career awareness and self-reliance.

Students from Karanjvant, Devadh, Saidivasan, Khadla, Chichba, Rendhi, Kanabeda, Baidiya and Hathikhan high schools participated in the programme. The sessions were conducted by Fr Mayank Parmar, who engaged the students through discussions and activities focused on their aspirations, abilities and future possibilities.

A central theme of the programme was goal setting. Students were encouraged to identify their interests and think about realistic short-term and long-term goals. Rather than viewing a career simply as a destination, they were invited to see it as a journey that requires determination, preparation and continuous development.

The sessions also highlighted the importance of confidence, communication and teamwork. These essential skills were presented as valuable qualities that can help young people participate more actively in school, community and professional life.

Another important focus was the value of skill-based education alongside academic studies. Students were introduced to the importance of practical skills, including digital literacy and local trade-related abilities, which can contribute to greater self-reliance and open up new opportunities in the future.

The participation of 219 girls and 177 boys made the programme particularly encouraging, demonstrating the enthusiasm of young students to explore opportunities for their future.

The programme served as a meaningful platform for young people to pause, reflect on their aspirations and begin shaping their future with greater clarity. By taking career awareness and skill development directly to schools in the Kawant block, Disha Don Bosco Kawant continues its commitment to accompanying young people and helping them recognise that their circumstances need not limit their dreams.

With 396 students taking part in its first phase, the initiative marks a positive step towards nurturing a generation of confident, skilled and purposeful young people ready to build a brighter future for themselves and their communities.
