Students at Don Bosco High School and Junior College, Lonavala, showcased creativity, teamwork and performance skills during the Dance Competition 2026, with the theme 'Storytelling Through Dance'. 

The well-coordinated event provided students with an opportunity to communicate stories, emotions, values and ideas through dance and choreography. The competition was coordinated by teachers Priya and Inshara, who oversaw the planning, preparation and smooth conduct of the programme.

The competition was divided into three age-based categories. The Junior category focused on stories with values, encouraging students to present meaningful narratives carrying moral and social messages. The Inter category centred on musicals, combining dance, music, acting and dramatic expression. The Senior category challenged participants to interpret movie-based stories through dance performances.

Students spent considerable time preparing for the event through practices and rehearsals. Their preparations included choreography, synchronisation, stage presentation, expressions, formations and transitions. Participants were also required to understand the stories they presented and communicate them effectively through movement and expression.

The performances were judged by Mr Nitikesh Gaikwad and Mr Soham Mallick, who assessed the participants and appreciated their creativity, effort and presentation.

In the Junior category, students impressed the audience with performances based on values and moral lessons. Red House secured first place, while Yellow House finished second.

The Inter category brought a lively musical atmosphere to the competition. Students combined dance, music and acting to deliver energetic and coordinated presentations. Yellow House and Green House jointly secured first place.

The Senior category featured dance adaptations of movie stories and required a high level of interpretation and stage presence. Green House won first place, while Blue House secured second place.

Beyond the competition itself, students gained valuable lessons in discipline, perseverance, cooperation and responsibility. Organisers noted that the event encouraged confidence, teamwork and healthy competition among the houses.

The programme concluded on a positive note, celebrating creativity, expression and the performing arts while giving students an opportunity to learn, collaborate and grow through the art of storytelling through dance.
