The Month of Mary began with prayer and devotion at the Don Bosco and Dominic Savio Parish, Satpur, on the evening of September 30, as the Parish Priest, Fr Wyman Gonsalves sdb, blessed the statues of Our Blessed Mother after the Holy Eucharist at Don Bosco, Nashik while Fr Rixson Nigrel sdb blessed the statues at Dominic Savio, Satpur, invoking Mary's maternal protection over every family in the parish.
The faithful gathered for the Mass, and the mood in the church was one of joyful anticipation as the new month dedicated to Our Lady was ushered in.
The two priests, in the respective parishes, handed the statues over to the zonal heads, who will carry the devotion into the homes of the parishioners. The gesture, made with reverence and gratitude, symbolised the trust placed in the laity to spread devotion to Our Lady throughout the parish.
As per the cherished tradition of the parish, throughout the month of October the statues will travel from house to house in the respective zones. In each home, the family will welcome Our Lady, and the Holy Rosary will be recited together. These gatherings are more than a devotional practice. They draw families to kneel side by side, bringing them closer, and turn ordinary homes into small sanctuaries of prayer.
In his words to the faithful during the announcements on Sunday, September 27, 2026, Fr Gonsalves reminded the parishioners that Mary leads us always to her Son. The Rosary, he said, is a simple yet powerful prayer, one that allows us to walk with Jesus through the joys, sorrows, light and glory of His life. He encouraged every family to make the most of this month by setting aside time each day to pray together, so that the home may become a place of peace, love and unity.
The words of the well-known saying, "The family that prays the rosary together, stays together," ring especially true in today's times, when families are often pulled in different directions by the demands of daily life. A few minutes of shared prayer each evening can restore connection, strengthen bonds and invite God's blessings into the household.
The parish community looks forward to a month of grace, as Our Blessed Mother visits home after home, bringing her Son's peace to all. May this Month of Mary deepen our faith, unite our families and draw us all closer to Jesus through Mary.
