On Sunday, September 27, 2026 the youth of Sacred Parish, Yerwada, organized a tree plantation activity as part of the Season of Creation with the active participation of the youth members. The activity was carried out with the aim of creating awareness among the young people about the importance of protecting nature and caring for our common home.
The preparation for the activity began with levelling the soil and preparing the area for plantation. Red soil was then added to provide suitable support and nourishment for the plants. The prepared area was watered properly to make the soil ready for planting.
Fr Gregory D’Cunha SDB and Fr James Nigrel SDB, together with the youth, took part in the tree plantation activity. The participation of the youth was encouraging, as all the youth were present and actively involved in the programme. They helped in planting the trees and understood the importance of taking responsibility for their growth and care.
The activity provided an opportunity for the youth to work together and contribute towards a greener and healthier environment. It also helped them recognize that caring for creation is a shared responsibility and that even small efforts can contribute to protecting nature.
The tree plantation activity was a meaningful and practical way of celebrating the Season of Creation, inspiring the youth to continue caring for the environment and promoting a culture of love and respect for creation. It reminded the youth that the environment is a precious gift entrusted to us and that we all have a responsibility to protect and care for it. Trees provide clean air, shade, food, and shelter for many living beings, while also helping to maintain the balance of nature. Caring for the environment is not only about planting trees but also about developing a lifestyle that respects and protects all of creation.
Through this activity, the youth were encouraged to become responsible stewards of nature and to understand that small actions, when done together, can bring about positive change. The activity inspired everyone to continue taking simple steps to keep the surroundings clean, protect plants and trees, reduce waste, and care for our common home. By nurturing nature today, we are helping to create a greener, healthier, and more beautiful world for future generations.
The youth also shared their thoughts and experiences about the activity:
“I felt happy to be part of this tree plantation activity. It reminded me that caring for nature is our responsibility, and even a small effort can make a difference.”
“Planting trees together was a meaningful experience. I understood that we should not only plant trees but also take care of them and protect our environment.”
