The group has been encouraged and headed by Fr Daresh Rathwa, Fr Rosario Vaz, Miss Saroj Parmar and Anil Baria under the guidance and support of Fr Elson Barretto, the manager and rector of Don Bosco School Narukot. The school Eco-club has initiated a project named “Caring for our Mother Earth”, which involves planting trees, education about using natural resources responsibly, and cleanliness drives.
The students actively and enthusiastically engaged in tree plantation and cleaning around the campus. Through this process of planting trees, the students learned that the trees play a vital role in purifying the air, providing shade, conserving biodiversity and maintaining ecological balance. They were also encouraged to take responsibility for watering and caring for the planted saplings to ensure their healthy growth.
Then, the students were taken to the 40-acre farm on campus. They were divided into four groups, each of which had five members and an activity to compete. The initiative helped the students develop environmental awareness and a sense of responsibility towards caring for our common home. Through their active participation, the students demonstrated that even small efforts can make a significant difference in building a greener and healthy future.
At the end of the tree plantation and cleaning activities, the students took an oath to remain committed to saving our common home and step towards a better future to give a green and healthy life to our brothers and sisters.
