In a significant step towards promoting healthcare access and improving the well-being of migrant communities, the Suraksha Migrant Desk, Bosco Boys Home, Borivali, in collaboration with Karuna Hospital, organised a Medical Health Check-up Camp for migrant workers at Kandarpada, Dahisar (West), on October 10, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The camp benefited 85 migrant workers, who received medical check-ups and healthcare support. The initiative aimed to make basic healthcare services more accessible to migrant workers, who often face challenges in accessing timely medical attention due to demanding work schedules, financial constraints, and other socio-economic barriers.
The medical team included Dr Brijesh and Dr Merlyn Menezes, along with Sr Suvarna and Mrs Sunita Rodrigues, Medical Social Worker at Karuna Hospital. Their presence and support contributed to the successful conduct of the camp, bringing essential healthcare services closer to the migrant community. During the event, Fr Roshan, the Rector of Bosco Boys Home, visited the camp to encourage the organizing team. He expressed his sincere gratitude to the medical professionals and highly appreciated their commendable work.
The initiative reflected the shared commitment of Suraksha Migrant Desk, Bosco Boys Home, Borivali, and Karuna Hospital to safeguarding the health and dignity of migrant workers. By organising such community-based interventions, the partners sought to encourage health awareness, promote timely medical consultations, and strengthen access to healthcare among vulnerable communities.
The camp concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr Datta, who expressed gratitude to the doctors, the sister, the Karuna Hospital representative, and all those who contributed to the successful organisation of the initiative. As a gesture of appreciation, saplings were presented to the medical team and to the individual who provided the venue for conducting the camp, symbolising gratitude, growth, and a shared commitment to nurturing life and well-being.
The medical camp served as a meaningful expression of solidarity with migrant workers, reaffirming the importance of collaborative efforts in building healthier and more inclusive communities. Through initiatives such as these, the Suraksha Migrant Desk continues to accompany migrant families by connecting them with essential services and promoting their overall well-being.
