On October 9, 2026, Don Bosco School and Junior College, Nashik, organised DBSJCMUN ’26, a Model United Nations (MUN) competition, providing students with a dynamic platform to develop their public speaking, research, negotiation and leadership skills. The event encouraged young minds to think critically, engage in meaningful discussions and explore diplomatic solutions to global challenges.
Organised under the initiative of Principal Fr Rixson Nigrel, with the guidance of Tr Rebecca Khisty and Tr Anagha Dusane, the event aimed to nurture confident, responsible and socially aware individuals. The programme commenced with an opening ceremony, setting the tone for a day of intellectual engagement, collaboration and constructive dialogue.
Fr Wyman, Rector of the institution, addressed the gathering, inspiring delegates to recognise that effective leadership extends beyond winning arguments. He highlighted the importance of public speaking, diplomacy over debate, thorough research, teamwork and considering others’ perspectives. His message encouraged students to listen with empathy, respect diverse opinions and work towards solutions that benefit the larger community.
The committee sessions formed the core of the event, allowing participants to experience the functioning of a diplomatic forum. The proceedings included roll call, General Speakers’ List (GSL), unmoderated and moderated caucuses, focused discussions, round-robin sessions and the preparation and presentation of draft resolutions. Delegates researched their assigned positions, articulated their views, negotiated with fellow participants and collaborated to formulate practical solutions to the issues under discussion.
These sessions provided valuable opportunities for students to sharpen their analytical thinking, express their opinions confidently and understand the importance of consensus-building. Drafting and presenting resolutions encouraged them to transform ideas into structured proposals while considering diverse viewpoints and the wider implications of their decisions.
The programme concluded with draft resolution presentations, voting, certificate distribution and a group photograph, marking the culmination of an enriching academic experience.
DBSJCMUN ’26 was more than a competition; it was a meaningful exercise in leadership, diplomacy and responsible citizenship. The event reflected the institution’s commitment to holistic education, equipping students with essential life skills and reinforcing the understanding that true leadership lies not merely in speaking persuasively, but in listening thoughtfully, researching responsibly and collaborating effectively.
Through this initiative, Don Bosco School and Junior College, Nashik, continued its endeavour to nurture young changemakers prepared to address global challenges with confidence, compassion and a spirit of cooperation.
