The Stellar Don Bosco Academy, Nerul, in collaboration with Ms Shilpa Rajpurohit, organised a Garba event on October 11, 2026, from 7 p.m. onwards. The programme brought together approximately 50 members from nearby residential societies in Seawoods to celebrate the traditional Gujarati folk dance of Garba. The event aimed to promote cultural engagement, encourage community participation, and strengthen social connections among residents of neighbouring societies.
The programme commenced with an introduction by Ms Shilpa Rajpurohit, who welcomed the participants and highlighted the significance of cultural activities in bringing people together. Garba, traditionally associated with the festive celebrations of Navratri, provided an opportunity for participants to enjoy music, dance, and shared cultural traditions. The celebration created a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere in which community members could interact, participate in the festivities, and build meaningful relationships beyond their residential neighbourhoods.
The event served as a platform for promoting cultural expression and recreational activities among local residents. Through the celebration, participants were encouraged to engage in a traditional dance form that combines rhythm, movement, and collective participation. Such activities provide opportunities for people of different backgrounds to come together, appreciate cultural traditions, and develop a sense of belonging within their community. The programme also highlighted the role of community-based events in encouraging active participation and fostering positive social interactions.
An important objective of the initiative was to create awareness about the dance classes offered through The Stellar Don Bosco Academy. Information regarding the Academy’s dance-learning opportunities was shared with participants, encouraging interested individuals to explore regular classes and develop their skills further. By introducing these opportunities during a community celebration, the Academy sought to connect with potential learners and extend its reach among residents of nearby residential societies. The initiative also highlighted the Academy’s commitment to providing avenues for creative learning, artistic development, and recreational engagement.
The collaboration between Ms Shilpa Rajpurohit and The Stellar Don Bosco Academy demonstrated the value of partnerships in organising community-oriented programmes. Such collaborations enable the Academy to engage with local residents, identify their interests, and create opportunities for continued participation in cultural and educational activities. The event also contributed to strengthening the Academy’s presence within the Seawoods neighbourhood.
Overall, the Garba celebration was a meaningful initiative combining cultural festivities with community engagement and outreach. With approximately 50 participants, the programme supported The Stellar Don Bosco Academy’s efforts to build stronger neighbourhood relationships, promote dance education, and establish itself as a centre for cultural expression, recreation, and community development.
