Grandparents’ Day was celebrated on September 11 at Dominic Savio Kindergarten, Nerul with the participation of the children and their grandparents.
The celebration was conducted into two batches - Batch One and Batch Two - where the programme began with the welcoming of the children and grandparents. The Nursery children presented a prayer and participated in a ramp/walk in the food court area. The Junior and Senior KG children then proceeded to their respective classrooms, where they joined in a prayer and ramp walk.
Rector Fr Barnabe DSouza, Administrator Fr Allwyn Misquitta, and Supervisor Mahek Ma’am also joined the children and grandparents during the celebration. They participated in the ramp walk and games, adding to the interaction and enjoyment of the programme. The teachers also actively participated in the activities along with the children and grandparents.
The celebration continued with a palm-printing activity. The grandparents applied colour to the palms of their grandchildren, and the children made palmprints as a special keepsake for their grandparents. The activity provided an opportunity for the children and grandparents to participate together and create a memorable memento of the occasion.
The grandparents participated enthusiastically in two games - ‘The Newspaper game’ and ‘Guess the song’ game. The activity encouraged active participation and created an enjoyable atmosphere for the children and grandparents.
A story-telling session was also organised, during which the grandparents shared stories from books and spent meaningful time with the children. Snacks were also distributed to the children and grandparents.
The grandparents also took an active interest in the activities and appreciated efforts made by the teachers to plan and conduct the celebration. Their positive response reflected their appreciation of the programme and the opportunity to share memorable moments with their grandchildren.
The programme concluded on a positive note, with the children and grandparents taking home special memories of the celebration.
