BIS #5874 DON BOSCO DAKOR'S JUNGLE BOOK: FUN IN THE JUNGLE
by Arpita Macwan for BISMumbai
Don Bosco English Medium School Dakor celebrated its 7th Annual day on 02 February 2020, with the theme, ‘Subject for Lifelong Learning’. This was beautifully presented in the school annual report and in its staged musical ‘The Jungle Book’.
Father Isaac Arackaparambil-Rector and Parish Priest Don Bosco Makarpura, was honoured as the chief guest on the silver jubilee of his religious life. In his speech he took the crowd around every character in the jungle book and the life-values they teach. Chhayaben Ajitsing Chauhan, Sunilbhai Devandrabhai Parmar, and Gopikaben Mukeshbhai Patel were guests of honour. One of them, in their speech, said, “other schools put the word 'international' on their name plate but Don Bosco is truly the one International school in our vicinity." Prizes and scholarships were given away to the toppers and winners by the guests.
Students gave an impressive performance on the grand stage lit up by Father Brian Boothello. The audience were spellbound with the English of the children, as they voiced their respective parts, dressed up as Mowgli, Bagheera, SherKhan, Kaa, Baloo, Monkeys and other animals. The live choir was a delight for all as this was a first of sorts. It was possible because of Desiree Periera, from Goa who volunteered to teach the students, and do this service to the mission of Don Bosco. Together with her Melez Kural from Belgium also volunteered to train the main characters in their oratory skills.
Principal Father Justus Mendis thanked all especially the parents for having faith in the Don Bosco Dakor team and entrusting their children. He urged, "please continue to contribute to the welfare of the school especially by trying to get more admissions for the school in the coming academic year." He also thanked and asked the audience to give a loud cheer to the students and teachers for working together and staging a wondrous performance.
Through the musical, the students showed the way to care for the environment and live the virtues of kindness and helpfulness in daily life.
