BIS #7399 Empowering Young Athletes in Rural Gujarat

A sports coaching camp was organised for the rural children in Gujarat. It began on November 3, and ended on November 13, 2024, at Don Bosco Narukot, Gujarat. The coaches were: Tony for hockey, Melvin and Rajesh for football, and Saniya the boarding master for basketball.
The coaching camp, organized by Don Bosco Narukot, aimed to provide top-notch training to young students. The students were from Tanakla, Chhotaudepur, and Narukot and they participated in football, basketball, and hockey. Renowned coaches led the camp, sharing their expertise with enthusiastic participants aged 12-18.
This coaching camp nurtured talent, building teamwork, discipline and a healthy lifestyle. The kids displayed sportsmanship. There were morning warm-up exercises which were followed by a game in the morning from 6 am to 8 am as well as in the evening from 4 pm to 6 pm.
During football coaching, coaches Melvin and Rajesh focused on dribbling, passing, and shooting techniques, tactical awareness and team formations, and finally on goalkeeping and defensive strategies. And for hockey, coach Tony emphasized on stick handling and ball control, passing, receiving, and shooting techniques. For basketball, coach Saniya concentrated on ball handling, dribbling drills and shooting techniques.
Overall, the coaching camp successfully achieved its objectives, providing a platform for rural youth to develop their sporting talents. The dedication and expertise of the coaches, coupled with the enthusiasm of the participants, made the camp a resounding success.
This coaching camp has laid the foundation for a vibrant sports ecosystem in rural Gujarat, empowering young athletes to pursue their passions and reach new heights.
