BIS #6203 Father Elias Dias passes away

Father Elias Dias, born on 13 August 1942 at Carmona-Goa, passed away in the morning hours of Friday, 30 October 2020 at St. Dominic Savio Boys' Home Andheri-Mumbai. Father Dias had been ailing for sometime.

Father Dias made his 1st religious profession as a Salesian of Don Bosco on 24 May 1965 at Yercaud, after which he completed his studies in Philosophy, at the same place. He did 03-years of practical training at Don Bosco Matunga-Mumbai and completed his studies in Theology at the Kristu Jyoti College, Bengaluru. Ordained on 22 December 1973 at Panjim, Father Dias served in the capacities of administrator, rector, and confessor in the houses of St. Dominic Savio Boys' Home Andheri, Don Bosco Borivli, Don Bosco Quepem [INP], Don Bosco Provincial House Matunga, and at Salesian Training Institute [STI] Nashik.

Father Dias also served as the MumbaiSalesians' Provincial Economer from 1982-1988 and as Provincial Delegate for the Salesian Family from 1999-2010. He was also a popular author and sought-after teacher of Salesian spirituality.
