BIS #6922 Students' Thanksgiving at Salmiya
By Ms Libby Sequeira for BISMumbai
A thanksgiving and fellowship program was held on 30 March 2023, for students of Classes 10 and 12 belonging to the parish of St Therese of the Child Jesus by the Salesian Cooperators of the Kuwait unit.
The program began with a special Eucharistic celebration at the parish which was presided by Fr Louis Irudayasamy, Fr Derrick Misquitta, and Fr Savio D’Souza. The Mass was well-attended, and the choir added a lively touch to the celebration. Student lectors read the scriptures with clarity and meaning, touching the hearts of those gathered.
In his homily, Fr Louis encouraged the children to look towards the future with hope and not to get discouraged or frustrated. He reminded them that they had done their best in the exams and should accept their results with faith and learn from their past. Fr D'Souza motivated the children to be proud of their achievements not only in education but in life, and encouraged them to grow and bear good fruit in life. He reminded them that their academic education should go hand in hand with their spiritual education and formation.
After the mass, the children were led to the church courtyard for a short get-together. Fr Misquitta addressed the children, telling them that life would put them through many challenges and that they should never give up or lose their value. An ice-breaker song was followed by well-planned active games, which the children enjoyed.
The fellowship ended with a 'thank you' from the students to all involved in making the program a memorable one for the children. The final blessing was given by Fr Misquitta, and snack boxes were distributed as the children left with grateful hearts.
