BIS #6585 Divyadaan M.P.H. Symposium on ‘Philosophical Implications of the COVID-19 Pandemic’

A symposium on the topic ‘Philosophical Implications of the Covid-19 Pandemic’ was presented by the F.Y.M.P.H brothers at Divyadaan: Salesian Institute of Philosophy Nashik, on 21 February 2022.
The programme began with the invocation of the Holy Spirit, after which Br. Francis, the moderator for the symposium, welcomed the gathering. Br. Avinash then introduced to topic and the three speakers for the day. The first speaker, Br. John, spoke on the topic: ‘Corona Virus and Vulnerable: A Socio-political and Economic impact of Covid-19’. Br Dominic, the second speaker, presented his paper on the topic, ‘Ethics during the Covid-19 Pandemic: Moral Issues Concerning Clinical Ethics’. Finally, Br. Anthony spoke on the effects of pandemic with regard to the Digital Medium, ‘Digital world and Covid-19’. After having been enlightened by the speakers, there was a very interesting question hour, where the floor was open for questions. Deep philosophical questions and discussion on points like the effect of the pandemic on God/religion, on Man and nature, the problem of evil and Covid-19 etc., arose.
The symposium was called to a close with a short concluding talk by Br. Bless Rumao where he stressed on the importance of an individual response on our parts as Catholics and Religious while dealing with the Pandemic.
