BIS #7500 Empowering Rural Youth: Valedictory Function of the Solar Assistant Managers Course at BGVK

Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK), Kedgaon, successfully concluded the Solar Assistant Managers Course, a 35-day intensive training program, with a grand valedictory function held at its premises. This initiative aimed to equip rural youth with technical expertise in solar energy, empowering them to build sustainable careers in the rapidly growing renewable energy sector.
The valedictory function was graced by Dr P.K. Bhattacharya (Senior Fellow and Associate Director, TERI), Mrs Pallavi Singh (TERI-The Energy and Resources Institute), Mr Shashikant Wakade (President, MASMA - The Maharashtra Solar Manufacturing Association), Mr Ganesh Wyase (Entrepreneur), Mr Vishal Holkar (Entrepreneur), and Frs. George, Clarence, and Bento from BGVK, Ahmednagar. The event also recognized the efforts of Mr Rohan Shelke, who efficiently coordinated the entire course, ensuring smooth execution and impactful learning.
Addressing the gathering, Dr P.K. Bhattacharya emphasized the need for skilled professionals in the solar sector, stating: "Renewable energy is no longer an option—it is a necessity. The youth trained here today will be the torchbearers of India’s clean energy revolution."
The Solar Assistant Managers Course provided hands-on training in solar panel installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and project management. Designed to bridge the skill gap in the renewable energy sector, the program empowered participants with practical knowledge and industry-relevant expertise. Mrs Pallavi Singh (TERI), encouraging the students, said: "The solar industry is expanding at an unprecedented rate. With the skills acquired here, you have a golden opportunity to contribute to a greener future while building a rewarding career."
Echoing the same, Mr. Shashikant Wakade added: "Solar power is the future, and Maharashtra is at the forefront of this movement. There is immense potential for trained professionals like you to make a difference."
Several trainees shared their gratitude for the opportunity and the knowledge gained. Sandeep Bhingardive, one of the attendees, expressed: "This course has given me the confidence to pursue a career in solar energy. I am now equipped with the skills to install and maintain solar systems, which will help me earn a sustainable livelihood."
Encouraging the students, Mr Wyase and Mr Holkar (Entrepreneurs) highlighted:
"Solar energy is one of the fastest-growing industries. Hard work and dedication will open doors to new opportunities, whether in employment or entrepreneurship."
As the event concluded with the distribution of certificates, Fr George, Fr Clarence, and Fr Bento from BGVK motivated the students to strive for excellence, reaffirming BGVK’s commitment to skill development and sustainable livelihoods.
