BIS #6399 Salesian Family post-pandemic line of action to protect & adopt poor families

On 18 July 2021 at 5pm, Father Diego Nunes - MumbaiSalesians' Provincial Delegate for the Salesian Family and the various delegates comprising the Salesians of Don Bosco [SDB] and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians [FMA] nuns, held Zoom meetings to reflect and plan the year 2021-22 in line with the GC 28 deliberations and the implications for the Saleisan Family. MumbaiSalesians' Provincial Father Savio Silveira, participated in the meeting and addressed the gathering of 24 delegates .

Father Nunes welcomed the dignitaries and the participants, he appreciated the work done by the Salesian Family during this Covid 19 pandemic and requested the participants to collaborate and work together during these challenging times. He encouraged the Salesian Family delegates to engage with young minds and invite them to join the Salesian Family to build the Kingdom of God and to promote the spirit and mission of Don Bosco for the Young.

Father Silveira encouraged the Salesian Family to be a spiritual and apostolic family and spread the Salesian Movement with a spirit of charity, initiate, optimism and joy during these challenging Covid pandemic times. He briefed the Salesian family with the various initiatives undertaken by Salesians and collaborators to alleviate the suffering of the poor and recommended them to be compassionate and to be involved in charitable activities in supporting families and young people. He encouraged the Salesian Family to use the digital media and to pray in groups so that God may deliver us from this difficult situation during these pandemic times.

Father Blany Pinto-Rector Don Bosco High School and Junior College Lonavla said, “The talk of the Provincial was very insightful, inspiring and practical. He encouraged all the Salesian Family members to come together for online weekly prayer and do something concrete in these COVID-19 times.”

One of the outcomes of the meeting was to protect and adopt vulnerable families and to sustain them financially, emotionally, and spiritually by the Salesian Family members in their respective neighborhoods. The annual programme with a number of spiritual and developmental activities were planned for the current year from June 2021 to April 2022.
