In a collaborative effort between Don Bosco Academy, Nerul, and industry giants Godrej Technology (Disha), Tech Mahindra Learning Foundation, and Grey Sim Learnings Foundation, an inauguration ceremony was held on 28 August 2023 to mark the commencement of a programme designed to equip Grade X and XII students with essential skills in Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, and Washing Machine (RACW) technology.

The primary objective of this initiative is to provide valuable skills to participants who are eager to delve into the world of technology. Mr Venkatesh Swaminathan, a Mechanical Engineer from Godrej Appliances – Mumbai, served as the resource person, guiding the students on their journey to acquire these vital skills.

The event saw a total of 60 enthusiastic participants from various nodes across Central and Navi Mumbai. Fr Barnabe D’Souza, the Rector, delivered the welcome address, drawing parallels between this endeavour and his work with children in Don Bosco Shelters. He emphasised how many of those children, once disadvantaged, now work across the globe. Just as they rose above adversity, he encouraged the students to view this RACW programme as an opportunity to enhance their skill set and rise to the challenge.

Mr Chetan Kapoor, CEO of Tech Mahindra Learnings Foundation, shed light on the importance of continuous learning and personal growth in contributing to both individual and societal well-being. He acknowledged Don Bosco's collaborations in cities like Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, and Pune, highlighting the privilege of working with such a reputable institution.

The ceremony culminated with an inspiring speech by Mr Amit Gupta, Founder of the Grey Sim Learnings Foundation. He expressed his admiration for the impactful work carried out by the Don Bosco centers in various sectors. Now, with the RACW trainers gearing up to impart their knowledge, he sees this as an excellent opportunity for them to overcome their inhibitions and take the learning experience to new heights.

This collaborative effort between educational institutions and industry leaders promises to empower students with practical skills that are not only valuable in the job market but also essential for personal growth. It reflects a shared vision of fostering education and skill development for a brighter future. As these students embark on their RACW learning journey, they are taking the first step towards becoming skilled professionals who can contribute not only to their own success but also to the betterment of society at large.
