Bhumi and HP Sampark organized ‘Nakshatra Sports – Mumbai 2023’, an annual sports competition, at HP ground, Chembur, on 22 January 2023. In this event, especially held for kids from children’s homes and shelter homes, children could exhibit their talent in an array of events in track and field, outdoor and indoor sports.
The event witnessed the participation of 700 youngsters belonging to 24 different NGOs from Mumbai. Bhumi is one of India’s largest independent youth volunteer non-profit organizations. It works for causes like education, the environment, animals, and community welfare. The main objective of Nakshatra was to provide the children with a platform where they can discover their inner potential in a healthy competitive atmosphere. This contributes to their overall development and helps increase their self-confidence.
35 children participated from the Bosco Boys’ Home. They participated in all the sports including the march past. With an excellent display of their talents in several events of the day, they bagged the Nakshatra No.1 title. The children from Bosco Boys Home won 5 gold, 12 silver and 8 bronze medals, certificates alongside the Nakshatra No.1 Champions Trophy. Their success was the result of their commitment to the rigorous training they enthusiastically undertook throughout the year.
During the prize distribution ceremony, the boys were ecstatic and extremely proud of their performance. The victory definitely boosted their self-confidence and has served to be a source of inspiration and motivation to continue such disciplined efforts in the field of sports. The boys shared that they were extremely grateful for this opportunity for showcasing their talents. The management of Bosco Boys Home felicitated the boys and expressed their pride in the boys and their achievements. The boys were encouraged to pursue their dream in every walk of life.
The Management at Bosco Boys' Home will continue to pursue their vision of reaching out to children in need of care and protection, offering them a protective home environment, and holistic education, and rehabilitating them through a well-designed and consistently followed-up process, accompanying them at every stage with their affectionate and educative presence.
