Yerwada, Pune, July 7, 2025: Don Bosco Edu Complex, Yerwada, Pune celebrated two important events on July 7, 2025 - the feast of St. Dominic Savio and the Investiture Ceremony for the academic year 2025–26. It was a special day that brought together leadership and holiness.
Catholic students participated in the Holy Eucharist, celebrated by Fr Gregory D’Cunha. In his homily, he reflected on the words of St Dominic Savio, “Death rather than sin.”
The Investiture Ceremony began with a welcome to the guests and the lighting of the lamp by the Salesian Fathers. Ms Diana read the Gospel, setting a reflective tone for the occasion. The college choir then led the gathering in the hymn dedicated to St Dominic Savio.
To deepen the understanding of the saint’s life, a short video presentation was screened, highlighting his holiness and faithfulness to God at a young age. Principal Fr Glen Fernandes agave a motivating speech, encouraging students to follow Dominic’s example of purity, strong faith, and courage.
The youngest members of the school – students from Senior KG – participated in a special performance with joy and innocence. Their dance was followed by the Savio Kindergarten Anthem.
The focal point of the day was the formal investiture of student leaders. The student council took an oath administered by Rector Fr Crispino D’Souza, while House Captains took their pledge under the guidance of Principal Fr Fernandes. Class monitors were formally entrusted with their roles by Fr Michael Fernandes and Fr Gregory D’Cunha, who presented them with their ties symbolizing their new responsibilities.
Student Sarah Gaikwad spoke about what it means to be a true leader. She said that being a leader is not about having a title, but about having a purpose and help others to set a good example, and to stand for what is right, even when it’s hard.
This beautiful celebration truly reflected the spirit of Don Bosco and St. Dominic Savio. It reminded everyone that real greatness comes from being humble, kind, and honest. And in this hall full of young leaders and dreamers, the inspiring life of Dominic Savio continues to shine.
