BIS #6613 MumbaiSalesians begin Provincial Chapter Session 02
by BISMumbai Correspondent
The Province of St. Francis Xavier Bombay {INB] popularly known as the Mumbai Salesians commenced the 2nd session of the Provincial Chapter 2022, ‘Implementing GC 28’ on 19 April at Don Bosco Lonavla. The Provincial Chapter assumes greater significance as the MumbaiSalesians are in their Golden Jubilee year, themed 'Called, Consecrated, Commissioned – Renewal of Salesians, Salesian Family, and Salesian Ministry'.
Eminent Jesuit educator-sociologist-pastor Father Frazer Mascarenhas, preached the inaugural recollection for the capitulars. He stunned the capitulars with his opening statement, “What if God were to ask you to close your congregation? Will you be at peace, and in freedom choose to follow what the Spirit is saying?” He then elaborated, quoting liberally from Pope Francis, stating “we are not in an era of change, rather we are in the change of an era! […] the time is now, and with progressive revelation, we need to embark on an adventure of strategic discernment countering patriarchy, endeavouring to be men of action, engage with society toward justice and peace.”
In the post-adoration, evening talk, Provincial Father Savio Silveira referenced Don Bosco, and invited the capitulars to be far-sighted, clear-sighted, God-sighted and filled with introspective insight, to be attractive witnesses to the most poor and abandoned.
A table-fellowship filled with enthusiasm, positivity and fraternity, in the spirit of Easter, brought the evening to a pleasant close.
