by Namrata Godetti for BIS Mumbai
On October 11, 2024, Don Bosco School and Junior College, Nasik organized a vibrant book exhibition in the school lobby, open to all students, teachers, and staff. The event was carefully curated by the school's Media Club, under the guidance of faculty members Teachers Nisha and Kalpana, and ran from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The book fair, hosted by Pauline Sisters—Sr Rita and Sr Delsey—featured an extensive and diverse collection of books, spanning various genres such as poetry, fiction, non-fiction, mystery, children’s literature and academic books. The primary goal of the exhibition was to foster a deep love for reading among students while exposing them to a broad range of literary genres. With books catering to all age groups and interests, the event promoted a culture of learning and curiosity, encouraging students to explore new authors and subjects. The book exhibition was met with great enthusiasm from students, who eagerly browsed and purchased books. Thanks to the initiative and dedication of the Pauline Sisters, this novel idea of selling inspiring and educational books contributed immensely to the success of the event. The collaboration between the Media Club, faculty, and the sisters made this a truly memorable occasion for the entire school community.
Don Bosco School and Junior College also celebrated Father’s Day with great enthusiasm on the same day.
In a celebration filled with joy and energy, the pre-primary section of Don Bosco School and Junior College observed Father’s Day for the first time on Friday, October 11, 2024. This event, particularly unique for its focus on fathers, was introduced by the school’s Principal as a way to recognize the essential role fathers play in the lives of their children. The principal emphasized that while mothers are frequently celebrated, it is equally important to honour fathers, whose quiet strength, love, and guidance are indispensable. The pre-primary teachers and students organized a series of heartwarming activities, starting with prayers and intentions offered by the students for their fathers. This was followed by melodious songs, energetic dance performances, and engaging games that were enjoyed by all fathers in attendance. Fr. Principal’s vote of thanks expressed deep gratitude to all the fathers for their unwavering love and support.
The fathers of the pre-primary toddlers collectively expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the school, the principal, the supervisor, and the teachers for initiating such a thoughtful event. They deeply appreciated the school’s efforts in organizing a celebration that acknowledged their importance, making them feel valued and recognized. The fathers expressed how special it was to have a day dedicated to them, affirming that their role in their children’s lives is just as vital as the mothers. They also conveyed their commitment to actively supporting their children's growth and development, emphasizing that they, too, strive to help their children flourish and succeed in every aspect of life. This event, they noted, made them feel more connected to the school and reinforced their shared responsibility in shaping the future of their children. This novel initiative by the school to honour fathers was a resounding success and created an occasion that will be fondly remembered.
