The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS) Mumbai, also the Mumbai Salesians' Province Planning and Development Office [PDO], distributed 1000 UHT processed toned milk tetrapak cartons, to the poor and needy in the impoverished Mumbai slum dwellings of Bandra, Antop Hill, Wadala, Sion Koliwada, Matunga, King's Circle and Dharavi. The 1000 toned milk packs, rich in protein and calcium, provided generously by a financial firm based at NESCO-Goregaon, were distributed over 02 days in Mumbai, to enhance nutrition and help sustain children and women, in these difficult days of the COVID-19 lockdown.
In Pune, the DBDS Mumbai through Don Bosco Youth Centre at Koregaon Road, distributed chocolate cookie-cakes and Nature-Valley honey toasted nutri-biscuits, to stranded migrants on the city streets. Coordinated by Father Richard D'Silva with a few youth volunteers, these Pillsbury cookie-cakes, rich in energy, protein and minerals, were donated in large quantities by General Mills India Pvt. Ltd.
DBDS Executive Director Father Rolvin D'mello says, "Thanks to our generous and large-hearted donors, DBDS is able to distribute these nutritious goodies to the most impoverished, especially children and women in these challenging days of the COVID-19 lockdown. As the lockdown continues, we are making every effort to reach out with food-provisions to the most poor needy who are stranded or living in slums."
