BIS #6755 Prison Ministry Sunday at AmrutDhara

By Fr Ashwin Macwan for BISMumbai

The feast of St Maximillian Kolbe, patron saint of prison ministry, is dedicated in India to the prison ministry which is an integral part of the Church's mission. In this regard, 14 August 2022 was observed as Prison Ministry Sunday, and on this day an outing was organized for the parishioners of Kathlal Parish under the leadership of Fr Ashwin Macwan, Director of AmrutDhara, together with Mr Ronak Gohel and Mr Bharat Parmar.

The group travelled to Don Bosco, Narukot, where they took part in the Eucharistic Celebration. Fr Macwan, during his homily, spoke of the life of St Maximillian Kolbe, and exhorted them to be a service of this great mission of Prison Ministry. After that, all had refreshing moments and a fellowship meal together. Some of the active members of the Prison Ministry Group of Kathlal Parish shared their experiences of visiting the prisons. One of them said, “Visiting the prisons has made me strong in my faith and also made me realize that we have a responsibility of treating each person with dignity."

Mr Bharat Parmar thanked the Salesian community of Don Bosco Narukot for the warm welcome and hospitality. The contribution raised from this outing will be dedicated to the Prison Ministry work which is carried out by the Prison Mistry group of Kathla in Godhra Sub Jail during the Christmas and Easter Season.
