BIS #6944 A New Don Bosco School at DB Kapadvanj
By Fr Ashwin Macwan for BISMumbai
The Kapadvanj Don Bosco Society inaugurated the new Don Bosco School on Monday, 12 June 2023. This has been a dream come true through the initiative of Fr Savio Silveira, the Provincial of Salesian Province of Bombay. The children were present together with their parents from around Kapadvanj for this programme.
Fr Arul Raj, the Parish Priest of Divine Mercy Shrine, Salun, was the Chief Guest for the occasion. The event began with Miss Olga Fernandes, the newly appointed coordinator of the School, inviting the guests present to light the lamp during the inaugural prayer service. Fr. Pratap Damor, the Rector, welcomed one and all to the event. The Chief Guest then put a garland around the statue of Don Bosco, after which all the guests were felicitated with a sapling.
Fr Ashwin Macwan, Director of AmrutDhara Don Boaco Animation Centre, introduced the Chief Guest to the gathering. It was followed by Fr Arul Raj delivering the inaugural keynote address. In his speech, he thanked the Salesians for taking this initiative which will bring a bright future to the poorest of the poor in and around Kapadvanj. He also gave assurance to the parents that they would be able to see the difference in their children. He also congratulated the parents for the decision they have taken to put their child in a Don Bosco School.
Fr Ashwin Mal, the Principal of Don Bosco School, informed parents of the rules and regulations to follow once a child is in the school. He also thanked everyone for being present for this historical event.
After which all were moved towards the newly prepared classroom with educational equipment which was inaugurated by cutting the ribbon by Fr Arul Raj and the Salesian community of Don Bosco Kapadvanj. Children were excited and were on top of the world seeing their new school.
Don Bosco treasures love and concern towards children in providing a good learning space and environment and that is why this thought of 'Don Bosco School’ materialised. This day was indeed historic for Don Bosco Kapadvanj.
