BIS #6847 Annual Sports Day at Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Nerul

The Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Nerul, organized their 15th Annual Sports Day on 25 November 2022. The theme chosen for the day was “Sports for Peace”; with an aim to bring out the qualities of equality, determination, and sportsmanship that sports imbibes in us.
Mr Sanjay Sudam Kadu, the President of Raigad District Table Tennis Association and an international table tennis coach, was the chief guest for the day. Mr Kadu is an International table tennis coach and the President of Raigad District Table Tennis Association. He was felicitated by the Rector, Fr Barnabe D’Souza.
The Sports Day began with a synchronized March Past by the four house contingents of the Secondary and the Senior secondary students, displaying various social messages on the theme “Sports for Peace. This was followed by hoisting of the Sports Meet Flag by the chief guest, followed by the Torch Relay and lighting of the Torch by the sport champions of the school. The chief guest addressed the gathering emphasising on the importance of sports. He concluded his speech by saying that winners are not those who never fail, but those who never give up. He then declared the Sports Meet open.
The students displayed energetic performances like Zumba and mass drill; while also demonstrating their skill in gymnastics and martial arts.
The students cheered for their houses as the races were conducted and the winners were announced. Sport events were also organized for Teachers, PTA’s and staff members. Championship trophies were awarded to the outstanding students. Best houses were awarded with trophies. Students, teachers and parents who attended this event participated with great enthusiasm and displayed the qualities of integrity and perseverance.
The lowering of the school flag, marked the end of the closing ceremony and the Meet was declared closed by the Chief Guest. He applauded the efforts of the students and the teachers for making the event a huge success. The students were called to apply the attributed learnt via sports in their daily lives. It was a day filled with sportsmanship, enthusiasm and memories to cherish.
