BIS #6164 Don Bosco Chhotaudepur Parents' input at Ekalbara

by Cleric Ambrose Monteiro for BISMumbai

An input session for the parents of the Ekalbara village was organized by Don Bosco Chhotaudepur social staff Karsan Rathwa and school teacher Kiran Macwan, on 21 September 2020. The 02-hour meeting aimed at spreading knowledge on 03 topics: Don Bosco, Importance of Education and Need for Development.

The meeting began with a prayer after which Karsan master explained the work and mission of Don Bosco institutes. Sharing the life and personality of Don Bosco, he detailed how Don Bosco institutes try to help poor youth. Speaking of the high value which Don Bosco placed on all-round education, Macwan sir reminded the parents that the first responsibility of educating children falls on the parents and so it mustn’t be thought of as a waste of time or money but must be seen as an investment. He explained it to the farmers through the example of a field. With love and dedication, the field is first prepared and ploughed, after which the seeds are planted and manure added. With time and effort of watering and weeding, the seeds go on to become crops which become the source of income. Thus it is with children.

Speaking of the need for development, Karsan master counted the number of advantages other villages are already enjoying by starting social projects like self help groups in the village which save and generate income. He promised the people that with little help and education, the village can see great development! And so, encouraged the parents to trust and enter in an active relationship with Don Bosco. At the end, an evaluative feedback was gathered, after which, the Sarpanch expressed his gratitude and promised to work with Don Bosco.
