BIS #6372 Don Bosco's preventive educational system - teachers' training at Dakor

by Father Ajay Shelke for BISMumbai

A training on ‘The Preventive System of Don Bosco’ was conducted for the teachers of Don Bosco English Medium School, Dakor on 02 July 2021. The session was animated by Brother Royston Colaco, who started the animation quoting Don Bosco, saying, “In every young person, a point of goodness isaccessible, and it is the primary duty of the educator to discover that sensitive cord of theheart so as to draw out the best in the young person.”

The Preventive System is based on the three pillars: Reason, Religion, and Loving-Kindness. Br. Colaco provided practical tips on how to put the preventive system into practice. Referring to the Oratory of St. John Bosco at Valdocco, he emphasied its significant aspects: creating a family ambient where each young person can grow in a warm and welcoming atmosphere (home); marked by happiness (playground), where he/she can develop their full potential; acquire new skills (school); and embark on an explicit faith journey (parish).

Br. Colaco also reiterated the importance of planning, execution and evaluation. The session concluded with the teachers discussing in groups, the ways in which they can concretely make Don Bosco Dakor a home, a school, a playground and a spiritual centre. The session motivated and inspired the teachers to further improve their accompaniment of the students.
