BIS #6006 CHEMICAL FREE ORGANIC FARMING AS PART OF CLIMATE CHANGE PROJECT
by BISMumbai Correspondent
Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK) Ahmednagar, Central Maharashtra has been implementing a project on Climate Change, financially supported by Don Bosco Mondo, Bonn-Germany. .
As a part of this project, BGVK is promoting chemical free, organic farming in 10 villages of Beed (Ashti Block) and Ahmednagar (Nagar Block). Training is provided to the farmers, who in turn implement the learnings in their own farms. Organic farming enriches the soil with natural additives. It also reduces the production costs since the farmers do not need to procure expensive chemicals and fertilizers.
Father George D'Abreo - Director BGVK says, "chemical free, organic farming will surely increase the fertility of the soil resulting in better crop production, leading to better quality of life. This is good for the soil, for farmers adn for those who consume the produce."
