BIS #6726 Festive Celebration at St Anne’s
By Fr Ajay D’Monte for BISMumbai
The annual feast of St Anne was celebrated with much love, reverence and devotion at St Anne’s Church, Ahmednagar on 30 July 2022 by the Salesians, together with other religious priests and nuns, and parishioners.
Prior to the feast, the parish celebrated a triduum with the theme ‘Family: Vocation and the Way to Holiness’. Frs Briston Britto, Richard D’Silva and Vishwas Pereira were the preachers for these days. The parish council members, Salesian Cooperators, together with the youth and altar servers of the parish worked hard to make these days special.
The feast day celebrations began with a rosary service which was followed by the celebration of the Eucharist. Fr James Nigrel, the principal celebrant, spoke about how families have been affected due to the pandemic. He also spoke about four types of vocations in the family: vocation to married life, vocation as singles for Christ, vocation to the diocesan priesthood, and vocation to religious life. Through various examples he made the faithful aware of the importance of the family and the unity among its members.
After the Eucharist, the priests and the sisters were felicitated with rose saplings and a shawl. On this auspicious day, the parish felicitated the faithful who have received awards in various fields, and also students who had successfully finished their post-graduation, HSC and SSC studies.
