by Brother Allan Netto for BISMumbai

From 16 March 2020 onwards, the Mumbai Salesians at Savedi Don Bosco Bhavan together with the St. John Bosco Parish leaders has been rendering COVID-19 food relief to poorer parishioners in the villages of Ahmednagar. From 08-10 August, about 50 families from the villages have been provided food kits consisting of foodgrains, pulses, oil, sugar, and the like.

To accomplish this initiative, the Catechist leader provided a list of the families that needed assistance to the Salesians and informed them to collect the packed food [ration] kits. The families were also requested to bring along their Aadhar Card for purposes of validation.

The poor families in the villages continue to be assisted, as many benefactors have come forward to render financial support, enabling the community to organize such relief distribution. The villagers are grateful for the food assistance, since the earning members of these families have been left without jobs for the last 03 months. The community urges generous donors and other volunteers interested in organizing further relief aid distribution to generously come forward and help the poorer parishioners.
