Don Bosco English Medium School organised a captivating scout camp for students in Grades 8, 9 and 10 from 27 to 29 November 2023. Nestled in the scenic locale of Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK) in Kedgaon, Ahmednagar, the event unfolded with enthusiasm and purpose.

Under the leadership of Fr Richard Burkhao, the Principal, the scouts and guides commenced their adventure at BGVK. A warm welcome awaited, setting the tone for a memorable experience. The day unfolded with the meticulous pitching of 13 tents, marking the official commencement of the camp through the hoisting of the scout flag and an investiture ceremony.

A comprehensive campus tour followed, exposing the scouts and guides to the diverse activities at BGVK, ranging from goat rearing to water harvesting. An engaging session on scout knots, led by Mr Francis Patole, taught the students the basics of scouting. Undeterred by a sudden rain shower, the students were resilient in continuing their activities as planned, a clear sign of their enthusiasm for the event

During the evening, a 'Sarva Dharma Prathana' promoted unity among students of different religious backgrounds. The night took a delectable turn as the students, having cooked their own dinner, gathered in front of their tents for a communal feast. Post-dinner, Fr Burkhao orchestrated lively indoor night games, infusing the atmosphere with infectious energy.

The following day dawned with BP-6 scouting exercises, leading into a serene nature meditation session. A dynamic hiking adventure on a nearby mountain was marked by activities ranging from reciting the scout flag song to engaging in push-ups. The day's agenda further included parades, First Aid training, gadget preparation, and the making of a Monkey bridge pioneering project in anticipation of the evening's campfire.

The grandeur of the campfire was heightened by the presence of other Salesians, especially Fr Richard D’Silva - Rector, and Fr James Tuscano - Principal of Don Bosco Vidyalaya. The scouts and guides, displaying their talents through folk dances and skits on the theme 'Care for Creation', left an indelible impression. The day concluded with an array of engaging night games, capping off an unforgettable scout camp experience.

The following morning, after thorough cleaning and inspection, the camp came to a close with the distribution of prizes and a vote of thanks by Fr Burkhao. The hard work, dedication, selflessness, and enthusiastic service of the staff, made the camp a huge success and a learning experience for the budding scouts and guides.
