BIS #7362 Inauguration of Various Clubs at Don Bosco, Nashik
by Namrata Godetti for BIS Mumbai
Don Bosco School and Junior College, Nashik, is committed to holistic education, striving to cultivate well-rounded individuals through academic excellence and personal development. On October 10, 2024, the school inaugurated three new clubs—Eco Club, Cub Bulbul Club, and Media Club—during a special assembly in the Parish Hall, led by Principal Fr Rixson Nigrel and Rector Fr Royal.
These clubs are designed to provide students with opportunities to explore their interests beyond the academic curriculum, fostering skills such as leadership, teamwork, and creativity. Teacher Ashoo opened the event, speaking on the importance of these clubs in enriching students' educational experiences and building a sense of community. She emphasized that these clubs will not only nurture specific interests but also empower students to contribute positively to society and develop critical skills such as leadership, teamwork, and creativity. Each club’s vision and mission were then introduced by the respective student in-charges:
Eco Club: Aimed at promoting environmental awareness, the Eco Club encourages students to engage with environmental issues and extend their influence to their families and communities. The club focuses on proactive stewardship, empowering students to advocate for sustainability. The club’s objective is to empower students to explore environmental issues and actions that transcend the academic syllabus, encouraging proactive stewardship of the planet.
Cub Bulbul Club: Targeting younger students, this club emphasizes leadership and community service. Through various projects and skill-building activities, it seeks to instill core values of independence and discipline, preparing students to actively participate in their communities. The club will prepare students to take active roles in their communities while building core values of the scouting movement.
Media Club: This club seeks to cultivate students' interest in journalism, filmmaking, and digital communication. A presentation during the ceremony highlighted the importance of media literacy in today’s world, introducing students to upcoming projects like school newsletters and social media campaigns that encourage creative expression.
Fr Rixson expressed gratitude to the management, faculty, and students for their support, highlighting the significance of each club. He encouraged students to embrace their roles enthusiastically and commit to ongoing involvement.
The inauguration of these clubs marks a significant step in enhancing Don Bosco’s educational landscape. With strong support from dedicated teachers, these initiatives will create meaningful learning experiences for students from Std III to Std XII. The clubs exemplify the school’s commitment to nurturing responsible, creative, and empowered individuals. As the school continues its journey towards holistic education, these clubs will serve as powerful tools in shaping the future of its students, helping them grow into responsible, creative, and empowered individuals ready to contribute to society. This initiative stands as a proud testament to the school's commitment to nurturing minds and hearts through collaborative, community-driven efforts.
