BIS #7416 Stride to Glory: Don Bosco School Nashik Celebrates Annual Sports

The Annual Sports Meet of Don Bosco School and Junior College, Nashik, was held on November 29, 2024. It was a celebration of athleticism and teamwork, themed ‘Healthy Planet, Healthy Athlete.’ The event aimed to inspire students to embrace fitness while instilling values like discipline, perseverance, and teamwork.
The Chief Guest, Ms Shraddha Nalamwar, a National-level shooter and renowned sports coach, added prestige to the event. She was given a ceremonial welcome with a guard of honor and was accompanied to the dais by the school’s principal, Fr Rixson Nigrel, and other dignitaries, including Fr Felix, Fr Pannasingh, and Fr Nelson. Fr Rixson felicitated Ms Shraddha, acknowledging her significant contributions to the sporting community.
The day's events kicked off with an exciting bike rally, followed by a prayer dance that set a positive tone for the celebrations. Students from the Primary and Middle School displayed remarkable energy and coordination in performances such as the Mass Drill, Umbrella Dance, Zumba, Lezim, and Pyramid formations. These were followed by an impressive March Past by the school’s various houses, demonstrating their discipline and unity.
In her address, Ms Shraddha emphasized the importance of sports in building character, highlighting values such as hard work, dedication, and perseverance. She urged the students to apply these values not only in sports but in all aspects of life. Fr Rixson also spoke, commending the sports faculty, teaching, and non-teaching staff for their hard work in organizing the event and creating a vibrant atmosphere for the students.
The highlight of the day came with the final races, including the 100-meter and 200-meter sprints, as well as the relay races. The students competed with zeal and determination, pushing themselves to the limit. The Tug-of-War was another thrilling event, where both students and teachers participated, fostering a sense of togetherness and teamwork.
In the prize distribution ceremony, students from classes I to XII were recognized for their athletic achievements. Rua House emerged as the overall winner of the Sports Meet, while Magone House triumphed in the March Past competition. The Primary Section Red House claimed victory in the primary sports events. The day came to a close with the flag being lowered by Sir Satish and the extinguishing of the Flame, marking the official end of the Sports Fest.
Parents expressed their admiration for the event, praising the school’s efforts in promoting sports and creating a healthy, disciplined environment. The National Anthem was sung, bringing a fitting and uplifting conclusion to a day that celebrated athleticism, teamwork, and school spirit.
