BIS #7338 Altar Servers & Marian Rosary Girls Felicitation - Kuwait

by Hilda Alphonso for BIS Mumbai

Don Bosco famously proclaimed, "Servite Domino in laetitia!" (Serve the Lord joyfully!) In a bid to express gratitude and inspire the youth to joyfully serve the Lord, the Salesian Cooperators' Kuwait Unit organized a commendation ceremony for the Altar Servers and Marian Girls Group from the Parish of St. Therese of the Child Jesus in Salmiya, Kuwait.

The gathering took place at the Don Bosco School Hall (IEAS). The young attendees were greeted by the Salesian Team, adorned with colorful ribbons on their wrists, and offered light refreshments and drinks. The atmosphere soon buzzed with conversations, laughter, and happiness. To break the ice and make the children comfortable, the lively MC – Raymond Rego initiated a game.

The Parish Priest, Fr. Savio D'Souza, praised and motivated the young participants and their parents for their dedication and contributions to the parish community. Emphasizing the importance of revering the Blessed Sacrament and maintaining a deep devotion to Mary, our mother, he commenced the afternoon by bestowing God's blessings upon all.

Jesley Thomas, the Coordinator of the Salesian Kuwait Unit, warmly welcomed the groups, followed by Oswald Aranha and Wilma Almeida, who lead the Altar Servers and Marian Rosary Girls respectively. Both individuals, also Salesian cooperators, introduced their groups and the activities they undertook. It was revealed that a remarkable total of 140 Altar servers and 7 Coordinators, along with 58 Marian Rosary Girls and 9 Coordinators, are actively engaged in serving at St. Therese Parish. Despite their academic and personal commitments, they participate diligently in various parish activities, including assisting at masses and reciting the rosary before each service.

The enthusiastic spiritual director of the groups, Father Joe, uplifted the youth with his positive presence. An array of games and spontaneous prizes ensured that the children remained entertained, joyful, and engaged throughout the event.

The main event of the program was honoring the top three senior and junior altar servers along with the senior and junior Rosary Girls for their unwavering dedication. The children, as well as their coordinators, were presented with trophies and gifts to appreciate their continuous support and guidance towards the young ones.

The honorees and their coordinators were warmly applauded, showcasing the strong bond and familial atmosphere they nurture. A total of 115 children participated in this memorable event.
The closing words of gratitude were conveyed by Jesley and Oswald. Capturing the essence of the evening, Sahil from our parish youth, with his passion for photography, beautifully documented the entire event, concluding with group photos.
With divine blessings and grace, another successful event was carried out by the Salesian Cooperators (Kuwait Unit) for the parish community.
