BIS #6050 ON BOSCO WALUJ INAUGURATES MARIAN MONTH

by Father Francis Fernandes for BISMumbai

Don Bosco Waluj Aurangabad inaugurated its Marian Month on 16 July 2020 – the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel with the theme 'Dear Mother We Seek Refuge in You'. The community had a festive celebration of the Eucharist by Father Richard Burkhao followed by the grand inauguration.

Father Burkhao explained the significance of the event to the support staff and their families (who reside on-campus) that had gathered to join in the Eucharist. He encouraged the participants to draw nearer to Our Heavenly Mother, who in turn would lead us closer to her son Jesus. Due to lockdown restrictions the community agreed to confine the celebrations within the community and its support staff. The theme was specially chosen to seek our Heavenly Mother’s powerful intercession in ridding the world of COVID-19. The Marathi hymn Mate Maria Aalo Aamhi Daari Tujhea (We come to you dear Mother) was chosen as the Marian Anthem.

The various activities of the Marian Month include sermonettes in Marathi by the confreres and the support staff, films on Marian Apparitions, a special Marian Rosary Quiz and games. The highlight of the Month would be the Marian Nite to be celebrated on 09 August.

It is our earnest desire that through the celebration of the various events we bind ourselves ever more closely to our Heavenly Mother and seek to come closer to Her Son Jesus
