By Cl. Gaurav Sansare for BISMumbai
On 1 May 2023, the boys from Bosco Boys’ Home took part in the Children’s Meet and Dance competition organized by the ‘Our Children’ organization at Shanmukhananda Hall, Sion. Out of 34 Child Care Institutes (CCI), 31 participated in the dance competition, and one representative was selected as Chief Guest from each group.
The Children’s Meet is a flagship event held every year on 1 May since 1971. Over 2000 children from various institutions across the city of Mumbai take part in this. This platform allows the children to showcase their creativity and talent through music, dance, and art. The objective of this program is to encourage children to exhibit their hidden talents and engage in creative activities, and it also helps them to connect with other children and feel that they are not alone. The event includes an exhibition of artwork from drawing contests held the month before, and a booklet of collections of drawings, poems, and shayaris done by the children was also released. One unique feature of this program is that it is organized by children for children, and even the chief guests are invited from among the children.
The energetic dancers set the floor on fire with their energetic performances, which reflected their passion and hard work. The rhythm, synchronization, and presentation of all the students were excellent, and the ‘Bosco Boys’ gave their best performance.
The judges appreciated the performance of all the children, and encouraged them to participate in such competitions to enhance their talents. The Bosco Boys secured the first position, while Chembur Children's Home came in second place. The children of Bosco Boys Home were honored with the winner's shield, certificates, and gifts. Later, the boys were also felicitated in Bosco Boys’ Home for their commitment, hard work and practice that led to their victory.
After winning the competition, the boys were filled with a great sense of confidence and joy. They are grateful for the opportunity to showcase their talent and appreciate the support of their choreographers, fathers, brothers, and fellow competitors. The Bosco Boys are excited to continue working hard and participating in future competitions.
