By Cl. Ambrose Monteiro for BISMumbai
A free-for-all, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training Camp was organized by SL Raheja Hospital in collaboration with the Alumni of St Dominic Savio High School, Andheri, on 10 July 2022. The spokesperson for the event, Dr Amit Nabar, the Head of the Emergency Medicine and Surgical ICU, SL Raheja Hospital, held an easy-to-understand session for which over 250 persons were present.
The interactive session with an explanation of the CPR procedure coupled with photos and videos kept the spectators hooked on till the end. The main highlight of the event was when each member of the audience got an opportunity to attempt the resuscitation procedure on a mannequin. This provided the ‘practical feel’ that brought to light the possible challenges one faces while performing the medical procedure.
“CPR is a first aid,” said Dr Nabar, “a first help which is immediately given to a patient by any individual until a paramedic is available.” It is advisable that many should be educated in the process as it could be instrumental in saving lives.
