To mark the beginning of the new academic year, our faculty of around 58 teachers, came together on June 12, 2025, for a truly enriching seminar themed 'Teacher Effectiveness and AI Training.' The session offered a powerful blend of inspiration and practical insight, setting a meaningful and mission-driven tone for the year ahead.
The seminar featured dynamic and engaging speakers, Fr Adolph Furtado, and Fr Allwyn Misquitta, who delved into timely and transformative topics. Among these were reflections on the importance of good relationships for a happy life, reminding participants that the heart of education lies in human connection. These talks were not only spiritually uplifting and practically empowering, but they also emphasized the vital role of positive interpersonal relationships in teaching and personal fulfilment.
Fr Adolph Furtado, who served in various capacities, including Principal and Rector, is known for his innovative educational initiatives and ideas at Don Bosco institutions and has been actively involved in promoting skill development and technology education within Salesian institutions. To deepen participants' understanding, his sessions were enriched with inspirational videos that brought key messages to life. 'The Pygmalion Effect' and Robert Rosenthal's study on the 'Power of Positive Expectations' were some of the visual aids that made a strong impact, leaving lasting impressions and sparked meaningful reflection.
A central thread throughout the seminar was the integration of Don Bosco's educational philosophy and charism. while tools like Artificial Intelligence were introduced as valuable supports, the emphasis remained on the enduring power of a caring educator.
Supervisor of the lower Secondary, Mrs Supriya Rodrigues, remarked that the seminar rekindled her passion for teaching. She noted that while the sessions on relationships and AI were insightful, it was the focus on teaching with the heart, in the spirit of Don Bosco, that inspired her the most.
Entering into the new year, the teachers at Don Bosco Naigaon feel a sense of renewed spirit - to be effective, compassionate, and future-ready teachers, inspired by Don Bosco's vision and committed to the holistic growth of the students.
