Mumbai, Jul. 13. Mumbai Salesians' Dominic Savio Andheri-Mumbai Alumni [Past Pupils], scored a century [100 days] of relentless COVID-19 Food Relief, reaching out to 01 million at 65 locations in Mumbai, as part of the 'Feed My Mumbai' campaign.

With the intention to ensure that no one sleeps hungry, freshly cooked nutritious meals to the disadvantaged needy were distributed by these past-pupils, volunteers and Salesians, stepping out of their homes bravely for a noble cause. The significant milestone was reached on 12 July 2020, by 300 PPDS (Past Pupils of St Dominic Savio)Corona Warriors.

Anthony Mascarenhas-President, Dominic Savio Andheri Past Pupils Association, says, ''Thanks to the Salesians who were with us all through, we have reached out to 01 million people in Mumbai alone, comprising migrants labourers, slum-dwellers, rag-pickers, scavengers, dailywage labourers, adivasis, commercial sex workers, transgenders and senior citizens. Withover 25 CSR partners supporting our campaign we started ration kits, hygiene kits, milk, biscuits, snacks, rain roof sheets and other drives across 65 locations in Mumbai. We had over 300 people, consisting of past-pupils, volunteers, friends and families collaborating on this project.''

The St. Dominic Savio Andheri Past-Pupils Association, worked in tandem with the neighbouring Canossian Daughters of Charity-Servants of the Poor [FDCC-Canossian Nuns], other volunteers and good samaritans with selfless dedication during thisCOVID-19 food relief campaign. With 80% of India's workforce dependent on daily wages, who are in these crisis days, without any source of livelihood or daily income, and with families to feed, providing sustained nourishment is a remarkable achievement, underscoring the great works that can be accomplished with cohesive thought and action.

Mascarenhas adds, ''A big thank you to Father Brian Moras-Rector and Delegate, for his support along with the entire Salesian community, the Salesian Cooperators and well-wishers. We also owe a debt of gratitude to our Alma Mater, for making us what we are. We now look ahead, our aim is to reach out to more location/affected areas in Mumbai and ruralbelts in Maharashtra with the support of our CSR partners who are growing in number with each passing day.''
