BIS #6862 Free Dance Workshop at DB Nerul

For the first time ever, Don Bosco Academy, Nerul, conducted a Free Dance-Wellness Workshop with various renowned dance-wellness schools on 18 December 2022.

The program started at 11 a.m. with a hymn to Don Bosco. Ms Aarna Mishal of Alankrita Arts Nerul performed a welcome dance. Seven different wellness schools participated in the workshop: Sole2Soul Dance Academy, Dazzler Dance Studio, and Baby Electro Dance Academy for Western dances, Kinkini Dance Academy and Alankrita Arts for Indian classical dances, and Mangala-yog and Sarvanga for mediation and yoga. The staff of Don Bosco Senior Secondary School Nerul introduced each of the wellness school to the audience at the beginning of the workshop.

The Coordinator of Don Bosco Academy Nerul briefed about the available facilities at the Academy and guided the audience to access the workshop freely without any difficulty. Students from neighbouring schools, their siblings and parents, working professionals, dance enthusiasts, yoga aficionados, Zumba addicts partook enthusiastically in the workshop. The dance schools offered various dance styles such as Western, Classical and Zumba during the workshop at different timings at various dance studios in the campus. The ladies and senior citizens who were interested in Meditation and Yoga were guided by the two yoga schools.

The visitors were came to the Academy for the workshop in groups. Although the frequency of visitors reduced in the afternoon hours, the frequency increased and hit peak towards the evening. Almost 300 people participated in the free wellness workshop which lasted until 9 in the evening. Many of the visitors requested and registered for regular classes to be started in January 2023. Most of the visitors showed more interest in Indian, Western and Zumba dance styles than in Mediation and Yoga.

It was a wonderful workshop, thanks to the dance-wellness schools, volunteers from Don Bosco, Nerul, and Business Management students from Institute for Technology and Management (ITM), Kharghar. Don Bosco Academy in partnership with Rotary Club of Smart City Navi Mumbai offered refreshments and lunch to the volunteers and trainers. The president of Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai exclaimed: “It was a very well-organized workshop. We love to get associated!” One of the participants articulated that her Sunday was well spent at Don Bosco Academy, Nerul.

The Academy takes pride in initiating these kinds of wellness programs in the Navi Mumbai region and plans to run such workshops at regular intervals.
