BIS #6202 Dussehra at Don Bosco Chinchwad

Since the majority of the staff and students at Don Bosco Chinchwad adhere to the 'sanatan dharma', Dussehra takes on a special significance with a solemn blessing of the vehicles, machines and tools in the workshops. VicePrincipal Purva welcomed the gathering and explained the significance of the celebrations to unfold. Rector Father Sanjay Lopes explained the religious significance of the ceremony focussing on the aspect of creation and God’s intervention in our lives with the world of work and the instruments that He has provided.
The ritual-blessing of the vehicles In Marathi by Father Lopes, was followed by an intercessory prayer by Father Vivian deSouza and the blessing of the machinery. Lighting of the lamp, the aarti and the breaking of the coconut followed, with Father deSouza and Brother Damodar Wankhede proceeding to bless the workshops, the staff and students. The different departments then had their own ceremonial celebrations.
