The Annual Thanksgiving Day at Don Bosco High School, Matunga was a grand celebration themed 'Extraordinary Dream to Enduring Legacies.' The two-day event, which was on February 8 and 9, 2025, honoured the school's management, staff, retirees and silver jubilarians for their dedication and commitment to educating the youngsters of the institution.
The two-day event began with a soulful prayer dance by the Sr. KG boys, followed by an energetic welcome song and dance by the Primary Section. The prize distribution ceremony on the first day celebrated the excellence of students in the field of academics and co-curricular activities. The Silver Jubilarians were felicitated on the second day, with the management thanking each of the Jubilarians for their constant commitment and invaluable service to the institute. The Silver Jubilarians along with the Retirees were Mrs. Sheela Pillai (also a Silver Jubilarian), Mr. Paul Durai, and Mr. Ramesh Parmar were honored for their service. The school also recognized Silver Jubilarians: Mrs. Anita Philip, Ms. Pauline Vallado, Mrs. Bindu Keny, Mrs. Anupama Tiwari, Mrs. Perpetual Nazareth, Mr. Manoj Koli, Mr. Avit Alex Dias, Mr. Roshan Gonsalves, and Mr. Irudayaraj Raphael.
The highlight of the two days was the staging of the well-acclaimed musical 'The Greatest Showman,' which was directed by Mr Avit Dias in honour of his Silver Jubilee. Mr Avit is a professional choreographer and director known for his works in 3 Idiots and various professional advertisements. The musical celebrated acceptance and tenacity within each one of us by following the journey of Phineas Taylor Barnum from poverty to founding a famous circus. The live music by the school band under the guidance of Mr Saby brought the soulful music to life and energized the musical further.
Mrs Anita Philip, the Principal, highlighted the message behind the musical, highlighting that each of us is a star in our own unique manner and that all we need to do is have faith in ourselves to achieve greatness.
The Thanksgiving Day celebration reinforced the school's legacy as a beacon of education and values, reminding everyone that with dedication all dreams can become reality. As the school draws towards the end of the academic year and awaits what the new one has in store, the celebration was also a time to give thanks for all the accolades achieved and to continue to strive towards excellence in the coming years.
