Chinchwad, Pune: Don Bosco Industrial Training Institute (I.T.I.), Chinchwad, came alive with reverence and gratitude as it observed Guru Purnima, a day dedicated to honoring teachers and mentors who play a transformative role in the lives of students. The celebration, held in the campus auditorium, was organized entirely by the students under the guidance of Fr. Bosco D’Mello.
The program commenced at 8:50 a.m. with a warm welcome extended to all teaching and non-teaching staff, who were honored as guiding lights in the educational journey of the students. A highlight of the morning was a well-curated PowerPoint presentation, creatively designed by the students, which depicted their appreciation and admiration for the faculty. The slides featured candid moments, thank-you notes, and visuals of classroom life, drawing smiles and emotion from the audience.
The cultural segment saw students presenting a meaningful skit, highlighting the eternal bond between gurus and disciples and the life-changing influence of good mentors. This was followed by a soulful group performance of the song “Shukriya”, a touching tribute to the faculty that emphasized the teacher’s role in leading students from ignorance to knowledge, and from confusion to clarity.
Speaking on the occasion, Fr D’Mello commended the students for their creativity and emotional depth. “Guru Purnima is not just a ceremonial day, but a moment to reflect on the countless ways teachers shape our minds and lives. The sincerity and passion you’ve shown today is inspiring,” he said. Fr D‘Mello also reminded the students that gratitude should be a daily practice, and that valuing one’s mentors is a sign of a strong character.
Adding to the sentiment of the day, Principal Mr. Nilesh Chandgude delivered the formal vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of both staff and students in making the event a success. “Today’s celebration has reinforced the values we strive to nurture at Don Bosco I.T.I. — respect, humility, and excellence. It is a proud day for the entire institute,” he remarked.
The event concluded with a melodious group performance, drawing heartfelt applause and leaving a lasting impression on all present. The Guru Purnima celebration not only showcased the talents of the students but also highlighted the deep respect and affection they hold for their teachers.
With touching gestures, emotional moments, and cultural expression, the celebration was a true embodiment of the Don Bosco spirit — where education is not just about skills, but about building relationships, values, and character.
