"Shabdanchi talwaar, vicharanchi dha - Marathi vaktrutvat samarthya apaar…” was the theme of a Marathi elocution competition, held on July 18, 2025 to promote language, culture, and oral communication for Classes 5 to 10 at Don Bosco High School Lonavla.
Many students came forward to participate. Those shortlisted prepared diligently with the help of their teachers, focusing on pronunciation, expression, and confidence. The elimination rounds were held a week prior to the main event.
The judges for the day were Mrs Savita Petkar (Headmistress, Zilla Parishad School, Dongargaonwadi) and Mrs Aarti Yadav (Marathi teacher, St. Joseph’s Bethany High School, Dehuroad).
Participants were divided into three categories:
Category 1: Storytelling – Classes 5 & 6
Category 2: Poem Recitation – Classes 7 & 8
Category 3: Speech – Classes 9 & 10
The competition began at 10:30 a.m., with students from each category performing in sequence. The judges appreciated the participants’ efforts and provided constructive feedback. Certificates were presented to the winners by the judges and Principal Fr Kiran Salve. The vote of thanks was delivered by Master Hasnain Sayyed.
The event was organised by Marathi teachers Tr Sushma Patankar and Sir Dinesh D’Souza.

The event boosted students’ confidence. For many winners, it was their first victory—an inspiring step in their personal growth.
