In a grand celebration of its Silver Jubilee, Don Bosco’s Naigaon hosted the Don Bosco Fiesta on August 30th and 31st, 2024. This event, conceptualized by the Vice-Principal, Fr Joaquim Fernandes, and coordinated by Supervisor, Mrs. Dorothy Fernandes, began from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, bringing together approximately 22 schools from South to North Mumbai, with over 700 students participating enthusiastically.

The Fiesta began with a lively opening ceremony, setting the stage for two days of engaging activities and competitions. The event featured a welcome dance reflecting the theme ‘Care for Creation,’ and a skit portraying Don Bosco’s vision from his childhood. The Chief Guest, Police Inspector Mr Mangesh Andhare, delivered an address that highlighted the pursuit of excellence and officially inaugurated the Fiesta.

The highlight of the event was a series of interschool competitions themed “Care for Creation.” These included Elocution, Quiz, Drawing and Colouring, Essay Writing, Gaming and Innovative Projects, Group Dance, and Football Tournaments. Students showcased their diverse talents, turning the Fiesta into a platform for academic, athletic, and artistic expression. The performances and spirited participation underscored the event’s commitment to fostering a challenging and nurturing environment for the youth.

The boys' football team from Don Bosco’s Matunga emerged as the champions of the Don Bosco Cup football tournament, whereas the girls' team from St. Francis, Vasai West, claimed the trophy in the girls' football tournament. The Fiesta celebration will proceed with upcoming events, including the basketball tournaments and the teachers' symposium, scheduled in the coming months.

Rector, Fr Dominic Martis remarked on the occasion, “As we celebrate the Silver Jubilee of Don Bosco Naigaon, this gathering is more than a celebration. It’s a moment to reflect on our educational philosophy, showcase our talents, learn from one another, and strengthen our connections.” The School Head Boy, Brajvansh Singh expressed his gratitude, saying, “The Don Bosco Fiesta was an incredible experience! The lively performances and engaging activities allowed me to make new friends and learn from their experiences.”

Visitors, including teachers and principals from other schools, were impressed by the well-maintained campus and the displays throughout the corridors. They admired the excellent organization of the event.

Principal Fr. Anthony Fonseca expressed appreciation for the leadership of his predecessors, acknowledging their crucial role in shaping the school’s journey since its establishment in 1998. “Each principal has significantly impacted both the school community and the broader educational field. This is a time to celebrate our achievements and milestones,” he noted.

The Don Bosco Fiesta at Naigaon was not only a tribute to 25 years of achievements but also a reflection of Don Bosco’s enduring legacy. The event served as a testament to his vision of creating opportunities for every child to excel and thrive. As the day concluded, the success of the Fiesta was evident in the joy and excitement shared by all, reinforcing the values and mission that continue to guide Don Bosco’s Naigaon.
