BIS #6425 Jyoti Mata Church youth organise badminton tournament

Don Bosco JyotiMata Church youth, animated by their local SYM Delegate Father Richard Burkhao, organised a 02-day 'no age bar', Badminton Tournament for the Catholic Youth of the Diocese of Vasai on 28 and 29 August 2021 in the Jyoti Mata Church Hall.
The tournament began with a short prayer service followed by the Inaugural speech by Priest Incharge Father William Falcao, who spoke of the importance of sports and its values in a Don Bosco institute. At the end of the speech he declared the tournament open.
On the first day, 28 August, Mens Under 19 and Womens Open Category played the tournament. Altogether 28 participated. The finals were played on the same day, at the end of which there was short prize distribution ceremony. The winners were given a medal and cash prize.
On second day, 29 August, Mixed Doubles and Mens Doubles (open category) played the tournament. From the age of 11 to the age 61 players took part. Altogether 32 teams participated. After the finals there was a short prize distribution ceremony along with vote of thanks. Father Falcao in his concluding speech stressed the sacredness of sports in a Don Bosco institute. The winners were given a medal and cash prize.
All the participants appreciated and congratulated the organisers for the well planned and excellent execution of the entire tournament. One of the participants, Matthew Gonsalves, came up on stage and said, "The entire tournament was well planned and executed. Don Bosco did a splendid job and wish they will continue many more such events for us "
