by Father Ashley Miranda for BISMumbai

Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra taking into consideration the seriousness of COVID-19, has offered its premises to the needy people in Ahmednagar District, especially to shelter 54 migrant labourers from Uttar Pradesh.

This initiative in collaboration with the Ahmednagar District Administration, ensures food, shelter, counselling and medical facilities without any charge. These young migrant labourers have been sent to BGVK by the Ahmednagar Municipal Administration from the Ahmednagar Civil Hospital.

These young migrants are at BGVK from 30 March 2020 till date. The Salesians with their staff are making tireless efforts to make the stay of the migrants pleasant. Father George D'abreo-Director BGVK is also in touch with the local MLA from UP and the Collector's office to work out the possibilities of reaching these young migrants to their homes, once the lockdown is lifted.
