On August 2, 2024, the Class 2 students from Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Nerul, embarked on an exciting and enriching excursion to the Seawoods Grand Central Nexus Mall. This special outing, designed as a Book Fair Meet and Greet, promised a session of storytelling and creative activities that would ignite the young minds of the participants.

The adventure began when students from all sections of Class 2- 2A, 2B, 2C, and 2D gathered in the Ground Floor Assembly Hall of their school. Together with their teachers, helping parents, and coaches, they departed for the mall at 10:30 am. The excitement was palpable as the children prepared to enjoy a day away from their usual classroom setting. They traveled by bus and arrived at the 2nd Floor Airspace Area of the mall just in time for the storytelling session.

The session featured Sonia Mehta, a well-regarded children's author known for her engaging stories and creative approach to addressing contemporary parenting challenges. Mehta's storytelling focused on “Pebbles and Pogo Become Icky Picky Eaters,” a tale that resonated with the students as it tackled relatable issues through entertaining scenarios. Her narrative style captivated the young audience, ensuring their full attention throughout the session.

Following the storytelling, students participated in a colouring activity themed around “Sonia’s Peppy Plate Palooza,” which emphasized the concept of a balanced diet. Students received colouring sheets and crayons. The children’s artistic efforts were evident, with many engaging in detailed colouring and shading. The teachers and parents looked on with pride as the students immersed themselves in the activity, their eyes bright with concentration and joy.

After the activity, Mehta personally reviewed each student’s artwork. She distributed cookie packets and different flavored protein bars to all participants. This gesture delighted the children and added a special touch to the event.

The outing concluded with the students returning to school at 12:40 pm, proudly showcasing their artwork and enjoying their treats. The day provided a valuable opportunity for the students to engage with literature in a fun and interactive setting, fostering their creativity and enhancing their appreciation for storytelling.

In conclusion, the Book Fair Meet and Greet at Seawoods Grand Central Nexus Mall was a memorable event for Class 2 students. The combination of Sonia Mehta’s engaging storytelling and the creative colouring activity made for an enriching experience that sparked the children’s imaginations and allowed them to express their artistic talents. Such events not only provide students with unique learning opportunities but also foster a love for literature and creativity that will benefit them throughout their lives.
