BIS #7228 Towards a Cleaner and Brighter World: Cleanliness Day in Don Bosco Matunga

by Ms. Rytika Pereira for BIS Mumbai

In light of the key insight given by Fr Godfrey D’Souza, the Rector, the kindergarten section of Don Bosco Matunga organized an engaging activity aimed at teaching the value of cleanliness to the children. The activity was designed to be both educational and fun, ensuring that the kids would not only learn but also enjoy the process.

Cleanliness is an excellent habit. Keeping this in mind, a special event titled “Cleanliness Around Us” was organized by the KG teachers on 27th July 2024 to educate our little ones about maintaining cleanliness in our surroundings.

The event began in the classroom with videos featuring songs and slogans on cleanliness. Teachers explained that children should not only keep their homes clean but also their surroundings and society. They emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness in places such as streets, schools, parks, and places of worship.

The children arrived at school with beautiful placards bearing cleanliness slogans. Each child had the opportunity to say a few lines on the topic, reinforcing their understanding and commitment. As part of the day's planned activities, the children cleaned the classroom tables, chairs, and dusters, demonstrating ways to help their parents at home.

Additionally, they picked up chocolate wrappers and bits of paper from the school grounds and premises, disposing of them in dustbins. This activity taught them the importance of cleanliness practically and engagingly.

The day concluded with the children understanding why it is essential to keep our surroundings clean. The special day dedicated to promoting cleanliness was a success, as the children actively participated and embraced the lessons of the day.

This event also helped in getting the children to be aware of their surroundings and actively participating in making the campus cleaner and better. Through the personal commitments made by the children, the teachers also aim to guide and follow up the children in practicing these commitments on a daily basis.
