BIS #6503 Book Release at Divyadaan Nashik
by Cleric Samson Ribeiro for BISMumbai
The book ‘Discrimination as Perceived by International Students: A Phenomenological Exploration’ by Father [Dr.] Edison Fernandes was released at Divyadaan: Salesian Institute of Philosophy, Nashik by Father [Dr.] Vinod Mascarenhas.
Divyadaan Rector-Father [Dr.] Banzelao Teixeira gave a brief introduction to the book, and invited Father [Dr.] Ajoy Fernandes to give a brief overview-outlook of the book.
Father Fernandes spoke about the method of investigation that the author has used in his research work, following the phenomenological approach. The author sent requests to 350 students across 20 universities in Metropolitan Manila [Philippines], from across 07 countries, undergoing studies ranging from under graduate to the doctoral programme. To be objective in his approach, the author undertook a bracketing interview as to not allow his biases to influence his research. In the answers and deliberations, four common themes were chosen.
The author, Father Fernandes, addressed the gathering, encouraging the students of philosophy to take up research in order to reach out to people.
